Talking Trash (2023)

medium:
13 trashcans
13 wiper motors
electronics

Talking Trash is an installation that gives a noisy voice to thirteen trashcans with wiper motors from the car scrapyard. Trashcans are like disappearing places. When we throw something away, on an intuitive level it feels like it’s gone, but it is never literally gone. By animating these trashcans, I’ve tried to give these disappearing places a voice. The installation was animated in collaboration with animator Jonas Callebert.
