Plunge of the Galloper (2022)
Plunge of the Galloper is a light installation create within the framework of the Light Switch Project. The installation features five exit lamps casting their glow in a chronological animation. The animation draws inspiration from Eadweard Muybridge’s iconic work, “The Horse in Motion.”
As the galloper guides the horse through the exit, a metamorphosis unfolds, transforming the figure into the mythical Pegasus. It is a narrative about the emancipation of the horse, who evolves into an entity that liberates itself from the constraints of human oppression.
About Light Switch:
LightSwitch was an incentive connecting the artists of IJzerblok Studios to the inhabitants of Coolhaven Island in Rotterdam. The artist got input from local inhabitants in the form of a sketch of a artwork that would illuminate the streets. The artwork was then given to one or two of the artist at IJzerblok studios with the assignment to realize it. Lore and I got a filled in form with just one word on it: horses.
